Google, the search engine giant has recently announced about the removal of few features from its existing Search Console API. A majority of such features have close association with apps, especially Android apps and their search appearance types. Before this announcement, Google collected the opinion of leading web and app developers, marketers, SEO specialists and other technological experts about what they want in the latest Search Console API. Especially, the survey asked participants to give ranks to their useful API features and mention the usability of such data. The existing API focuses on different parameters related to sites and search queries available via Search Consoles.

Key API Changes made by Google

According to Google, it would stop supporting the following Android app-based search appearance types-

• Is Opened

• Is Install

• Is App Universal

Previous Removal from Google Search Console

In the month of February, Google removed a few of the app properties from its Search Console. Hence, it also wants to remove the same properties from the existing App Indexing Features. Google intimated app developers to transit to the Firebase platform of Google to deal with the latest report. As search appearance types of Android apps are no longer useful in any User Interface, they never shown populated with the latest data.

Hence, Google do not want to show any of the search appearance types at all from its API. Besides, Google explained that Sitemaps APIs no longer act to populate the index status of any submitted site file within the Indexed field. Thus, it removed the status during the earlier months of the year even without making any formal announcement.

However, Google also announced “Our team is continuing to commit towards the Search Console API. Especially, we are putting efforts to update the existing Search Console API to the latest Search Console. Even though the updates or changes are minor ones but they may affect the already existing APIs integrations.”

Google’s Adjustments to its Existing Ads API

Google is meanwhile adjusting its existing Ads APIs to avoid the use of same accounts to make payments across the manager accounts’ hierarchies. Payment accounts belonging to the manager account hierarchy of Google Ads are the online valid payment accounts to create as well as update different billing setups. However, in case of Adwords API, you have to mention about a validated billing account while you create a specific order of the budget.
